Board Mission, Vision, Core Values, Goals and Community Involvement The District mission is to provide a challenging, caring and safe educational environment, which prepares students to be positive members of the community, effective communicators, problem solvers, and life long learners. This mission was developed in collaboration with staff students and community. WUSD is in the process of defining its vision and creating a 3 - 5 year strategic plan. Parents/guardians and community play a critical role in supporting student success. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to be involved in our schools. They are active participants in site governance, district committees, in classrooms and at school events. There are many ways for parents and community to get involved in our schools. lf you are interested in volunteering, please contact the appropriate school.
Academic Achievement We are proud of our student achievement and have made continual gains on state accountability targets. Our students are prepared to enter higher education (college and vocational) and the work force. We continue to work on increasing the number of students who qualify to attend a four year college and who qualify for vocational programs through our college going initiatives and career technical education programs.
Extra Curricular Activities Last year, 40% of our students participated in high school athletics. There are 15 sports which make up 3l teams. Athletics are offered at the middle school as well and in the community for younger students. Students participate in a strong art and music program and in a variety of clubs and activities. In addition, in partnership with the Willits Kids Club, we offer an extensive after school academic and enrichment program. We are thankful to the community for their support of these programs. We invite you to come visit our schools and learn how you can get involved. For more information, call us at (707) 459-5314 |
